Growing up in Oak Park, there were so many lovely landmarks that gave me nothing but nostalgic vibes that became daily memories that I will carry with me forever. The first landmark on the list would have to be First Baptist, this landmark is home of a legendary daycare, that teaches, feeds, and starts children with social interaction at ages as early as one years old. The location is significantly important to me because of it's nostalgic memories, and also because that is where I met my life long best friends, Ellis and Alshawntus at the age of 2 years old. This was a good place for Oak Park babies to learn and grow up before going to one of the selected elementary schools in the area, prior to turning 5 years old. The next landmark on the list would have to be The Lake Movie Theatre. This movie theatre was a place for our town to gather at for all of the new and even some older movies, the theatre was very versatile. With having new movies every week, they still managed to show legendary old films, also you could rent out a theatre if you wanted to premiere your own film.
The theatre is special to me, because I remember taking class field trips at an early age, where we would leave the school and walk in a straight line through Oak Park, go and see a new children's movie and enjoy popcorn, a fruit snack, and a drink, that was the kiddie special. The next landmark on the list would definitely have to be the OPRF High School Football Stadium, here is where we watched the Friday Night Light Games. It was almost like watching miniature NFL Games, the stadium would be packed, and you would attend the games with your friends and enjoy a good Friday before heading into the weekend. The landmark is even more important to me because when I got to high school, I got to play in those Friday Night Light Games and experience the emotions for myself, this time on the field and not in the stands. The second to last landmark on the list is the Oak Park YMCA. Here is where all of the basketball players played, If you lived in the area and played basketball, you were probably at the YMCA every day, and I was one of those guys.
The best part about playing their was that you could play 5 on 5 freely, because at the Oak Park schools, you definitely had to play organized basketball. This landmark is important to me because personally, it is where I spent so many hours perfecting my craft and it is one of the reasons why I am a very good basketball player today, because I needed somewhere to workout other than the school landmarks. The last landmark on the list would have to be Dinicos Pizza, this is a restaurant where my friends and I would go to after school, or after a long night of partying, so we could've enjoyed a pizza slice in the day time or at 4 in the morning because they stayed open 24 hours a day. This landmark is special to me because during my junior and senior years of high school it gave my friends and I such nostalgic vibes after we'd finish getting high(Teenager adventures), the pizza tasted like heaven. But, now since we've ate the pizza so much, it just tastes washed up and for me, I don't smoke marijuana anymore, but either way after a few years, the pizza just never tasted the same, whether high on marijuana or sober as can be, but for those few years of high school, the whole experience was like a dream.
