My name is Eric Lewis and I graduated from Oak Park and River Forest. I attended the public school all four years. While being there I was fortunate enough to have played basketball and football, I also ran track. One of my favorite classes while attending there was Financial Literacy, there I learned and developed a Business Mindset. Carrying this tool allows me to run a business by have learning beginner skills, rather than me using the internet for start-up help. Just blocks down from my former high school there was a legendary retirement home that I worked at called Brookdale, also the home of elderly residents whom most grew up in Oak Park and attended Oak Park and River Forest. So, with me walking the halls of the great OPRF every day, I was able to better my communication and education skills by interacting with my peers and being taught academics by my teachers. Playing sports for the school allowed me to grow into a natural leader, with a winners mentality. This not only pertains to sports, but to every day life as well. Many days where I might feel tired or discouraged, I am self reminded of the daily tiring practices I went through where I sometimes wanted to give up, but I kept going. Overall graduating from the high school has groomed me into a young adult that can go to work, make my money and not complain. Also having the ability to get through tough situations by keeping a tough mindset. I often think about the term "Mental Toughness", as that was a saying said to me personally by my sophomore football coach, Mr. Dalo.
